So annoying right?? Ours actually automated everything; account creation through to the spamming. We’re logging IPs now and blocking them.

We were just on the receiving end of this as well a few days ago. I’ve just deleted the offending user. Looks like user accounts are being manually created and then script kiddie’d into being spam bots.

It’s interesting that this is happening. Maybe it’s because of the proliferation of web apps that are built with an API + React/Angular/Vue. Definitely can see things being easier to automate with a well documented API 🙂.

We’ve leveraged invisible recaptcha on our site in a couple of places. If we had a problem like this – I think that my first instinct would be to add a recaptcha to the invitation action.
